Margaret Western, Manager Migrant Services
Margaret brings to her role a demonstrated commitment to the policy & philosophy of the Marlborough Migrant Centre, is passionate about her work and believes the community is enriched by the rapidly evolving demographics and ethnic diversity of Marlborough.
As Manager, Migrant Services her main objective is to manage the day to day service delivery of MMC, supported by a capable governance committee. Margaret who is an Office of Ethnic Affairs' trained Intercultural Awareness & Communication Trainer and English Language Partners' Tutor knows the Marlborough community well. Her communication, established networks and effective stakeholder relationships with government / non-government agencies and service providers, coupled with many experience working with a culturally diverse focus, are key areas of strength.
Margaret's work focuses on educational opportunities and finding local solutions to improve the settlement process. Another key focus is community relations and relationship building between migrants and the host community to identify and address migrant / community social wellbeing.
